Photo and video-sharing social networking service Instagram launched a trial version of the new feature reels in November last year. This feature allows users to use functions such as video application TikTok.
The company said last week that it was being tested in France and Germany, but a new report claimed that it would also be made available to Indian users.
According to a report by Business Insider, some users in India have been selected to test Instagram’s new technology. However, the company did not mention India among the countries that roll out the facility.
“We are planning to bring a new version of the reels to many countries,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement. The reel is a fun creative way in which people will entertain people by showcasing their talents.
We are excited to bring our new version to the global community. Currently, there are no plans to launch or share a list for countries.
Like TikTok, users will be able to create a 15-second video on it, which can be edited with audio or music tracks. It can also be shared on Instagram’s story and direct message.
The new feature comes at a time when the popular app Tiktok in this segment has been banned by the order of the Government of India. The Indian government has removed Chinese apps from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and banned them in India.
Apart from this, an app called Chingari is becoming very popular nowadays, which is being called the Indian option after Tiktok. The app has received over 100 million downloads in just a few weeks.
