Garmin’s server stalled for 20 hours after ransomware attack

The leading fitness and smartwatch manufacturer Garmin has been hit by a ransomware attack after which the server is down for about 20 hours and the smartwatch has been shut down.

Garmin wearable apps, call centers and smartwatches are all affected by this attack. The company has also confirmed this attack.

After this cyber attack on Garmin, the Forerunner smartwatch has been discontinued. Apart from this, the navigation device flyGarmin is also not working. The ZDNET report said that immediately after the attack, Garmin shut down its servers for security and the internal network was also locked with the production system.

This ransomware attack is called WastedLocker. The IT staff of Garmin’s Taiwan office said in a report that the company’s Taiwan factory would remain closed for the next two days following the attack and that the problem would be resolved during this time.
